Visions has always had an increasing desire to improve the surrounding neighborhood and make a difference in their community. With a keen focus on education, the church has made strides in presenting educational enrichment in a variety of creative ways, in particular through the dramatic arts, impacting youth of all ages. Visions also effectively promotes positive change offering regular impactful events for men, women, married, and single groups for personal enrichment as well as to inspire the advancement. These activities fulfill the vision and mission of the organization with its main emphasis of "Empowering, Educating, and Equipping".
After School Program
Visions Summer Program and After School Program assists in helping our youth and children to acquire a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills needed for school success. We believe an effective environment is a place where children feel well cared for and safe. Visions is a place where children are valued as individuals and where their need for attention, approval, and affection are supported. In this environment, children can discover the world that surrounds them and develop the capacity to connect with others all while being tutored in any areas of education that is needed.
The most important goal of our program curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. This means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners and help them explore many opportunities that could steer them towards a professional goal and career. We are teaching them to learn, not just in the classroom, but also all through their lives. We encourage them to develop good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive sense of themselves. Which will make a difference throughout their lives. To be sure children are learning at the appropriate level for their age and that program content is in alignment with established learning standards, our program diligently adheres to all guidelines and standards set forth by the State’s Early Learning Standards and the State’s Licensing Agency.
Our targeted audience are children of every nationality, we do not discriminate against parents who are receiving public assistance versus parents that are in the working class. All parents are entitled to receive the same quality care for their children. Our targeted age groups are children ranging from the ages of 5 years to 12 years of age.

East 2nd Street Revitalization
Since May 2012 Reverend Paul Dean is the project manager for the East 2nd St. Revitalization (E2SR) and team. The revitalization team consists of 4 local residence that along with Reverend Dean are dedicated and determined to remove criminal activity and plight from the East 2nd Street corridor - Johnston Ave to Leland Ave. This effort is being worked in partnership with the City of Plainfield.
East 2nd St. Revitalization (E2SR) team accomplishments include but are not limited to the removal of 2 old bill boards in which frames were old rusty eye sores, and stationed on top of an abandoned building.
The E2SR team also played a key role in auctioning off 2 abandoned buildings located in the area, which did nothing but add to the negative and hopeless feeling of the area. Currently both buildings are under reconstruction by contractors. Also helping to uplift the area is better lighting, a greater police presence and surveillance cameras; additional measures the team has coordinated with the City of Plainfield.
Giving consideration to the East 2nd Street corridor potential for improvement and success, Reverend Dean from his own pocket paid for an area survey - conducted by Dr. Roland Anglin of Rutgers University titled: East Second Street Revitalization Plan. This survey ultimately was presented to the community for community review, discussion and invitation for community participation. See attachment for the May 2012 survey.
The goal of E2SR is to turn this area into a thriving community where local business owners can flourish from the added traffic of new customers. Also through infrastructure improvements attracting new businesses to move into the area and hire local residence.
